Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Lead Application Modernization Consultant to guide clients through modernization of complex applications, blending hands-on technical leadership with strategic delivery oversight. You will partner with engineering, architecture, and client stakeholders to assess legacy environments and define modernization paths toward cloud-based solutions.

This remote role requires 7+ years in software engineering (3+ in modernization/leadership), proficiency in Java, .NET, or Python, and

Qualifications

7+ years in software engineering or application development with 3+ years in modernization or technical leadership.
Experience leading modernization of complex, high-availability apps including cloud-native architectures.
Strong experience with Java, .NET, or Python and legacy code analysis.

Responsibilities

Lead an agile delivery team to meet client needs and improve developer experience.
Identify and mitigate risks from legacy dependencies and new technologies.
Engage hands-on in architecture, design, and development across multiple work packages.
Drive modernization by assessing legacy codebases and recommending strategies.
Develop assessments and designs for transitioning to modern solutions.
Facilitate discovery and planning to define problem statements and success criteria.
Document requirements and architectural decisions clearly.
