Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer to shape data modeling, governance, and delivery from the Databricks platform for impactful analysis. You will build trusted, well-documented data products usable across tools like Power BI and Tableau, setting guardrails and coaching for self-service analytics.

The role emphasizes data quality, delivery timeliness, and cost management with collaboration across domain teams and leadership. Remote work within the US is possible.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in BI, analytics engineering, or data engineering, including enterprise dashboards and reporting data models.
• 3+ years experience coding in SQL & Data Modeling: window functions, CTEs, performance tuning, star schemas.
• 3+ years experience with an enterprise BI platform (Tableau or Power BI) including publishing and permissions.
• 3+ years experience building Semantic Layers: with governed data sources or metric layers (Power BI, Tableau, dbt, Databricks metric views).
• 3+ years experience on Cloud Data Platforms: Databricks or similar (Snowflake, Synapse, BigQuery).
• 3+ years experience with Data Governance: role-based access, row/column-level security, handling sensitive data in reporting.

Responsibilities

• Reporting Data Models & Metrics: design and maintain dimensional models and metric definitions in Databricks for consistent metrics across tools.
• Dashboards & Visualization: build dashboards for data quality, delivery timeliness, SLA attainment, payer scorecards, and platform cost.
• Self-Service Enablement: publish certified datasets, maintain data dictionary, train and coach users.
• Governance & Guardrails: define data exposure to BI tools, access controls, PHI/PII protection, naming standards.
• Tool Strategy: evaluate BI tools and keep business logic in the data layer; lead migrations when needed.
• Performance & Reliability: tune queries, manage BI assets in version control across environments.
• Stakeholder Partnership: gather requirements and track adoption and usage.
