Job summary

Makai is hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer for a fully remote role. You will own backend development across Node.js/TypeScript services, collaborating with cross-functional teams to build scalable, secure solutions that support enterprise automation and data-driven insights.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of backend experience, strong ORM and data modeling skills, and proven work in regulated environments with strict access controls and auditing.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend software experience.
• Experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience in regulated environments with access-control and audit logging (HIPAA/SOC 2/HITRUST).
• Ability to learn new frameworks and think in terms of systems.
• Strong ORM usage and data validation practices.
• Proven remote-work experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop features across Node.js/TypeScript backend services.
• Optimize applications for speed and scalability.
• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to improve usability and integration.
• Write robust, maintainable, well-documented code.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications.
• Conduct performance tests and ensure stability across platforms.
