Kentro is hiring a Back-End Developer IV to lead the FAA ATLAS modernization effort, shaping server-side architecture and enterprise APIs. You will drive microservices adoption, design data-access layers, and mentor cross-team engineers, while delivering secure, scalable backend services.

The role is remote within the United States, with Eastern Time working hours. Compensation ranges from $149,000 to $177,000 annually, based on skills, education, and security clearance where applicable.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of back-end development experience across complex systems.
• Expert-level proficiency in one or more major server-side stacks (Java/Spring Boot, .NET/C#, Python, Node.js/TypeScript, Go).
• Hands-on experience with enterprise APIs, REST, API contracts, and versioning.
• Experience with messaging and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS).
• Proven ability to lead multi-team back-end transformations and modernization efforts.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement server-side engineering patterns within enterprise architecture.
• Lead back-end integration across legacy and modernized systems.
• Design portfolio and application service/API layers aligned with API strategy.
• Architect and implement messaging and streaming infrastructure (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Guide serverless vs containerized workloads, cost, latency, and sustainment decisions.
• Drive decomposition of monoliths into services and oversee data migration.
