Job summary

Ensono is seeking a Lead Application Modernization Consultant to drive modernization efforts and provide technical leadership across cloud-native architectures. You will lead agile delivery, mentor engineers, and champion AI-assisted approaches to accelerate legacy analysis while delivering measurable business outcomes.

You will collaborate with clients, define problem statements, and ensure architectural standards are maintained, with opportunities to work remotely in the United States.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in software engineering with at least 3+ years in modernization, cloud architecture, or delivery leadership.
• Led modernization of large-scale, high-availability apps including cloud-native/microservices.
• Hands-on experience with Java, .NET, or Python and legacy code analysis.
• Experience assessing legacy estates, inventories, and modernization strategies (rehost/refactor/re-platform/retire/retain/replace).
• Experience designing distributed systems on Azure, AWS, or GCP with scalability and non-functional requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead agile delivery team or workstream, owning technical outcomes and developer experience.
• Own technical/delivery risk including legacy dependencies and AI-assisted approaches.
• Remain hands-on in architecture, design, and development while aligning with architectures and standards.
• Drive modernization by assessing legacy codebases and recommending dispositions.
• Develop target-state designs and a clear path from legacy to modernized solutions.
• Lead discovery and planning with clients to define outcomes and success criteria.
• Document requirements, ADRs, acceptance criteria, and architectural intent.
• Promote modern developer experience using AI-assisted tools.
• Provide technical leadership within Connected Services, ensuring quality and accountability.
