Job summary

Ensono is hiring a Lead Application Modernization Consultant to drive modernization programs remotely across the United States. You will lead agile teams, own technical outcomes, and stay hands-on across architecture, design, and development while delivering measurable business outcomes for clients.

You will mentor engineers, advance standards, and leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate legacy analysis, ensuring quality and accountability in all deliverables.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive software engineering, including 3+ years in application modernization or technical leadership.
• Experience leading modernization of large-scale, high-availability apps with cloud-native/microservices patterns.
• Hands-on proficiency in Java, .NET, or Python and reasoning through legacy codebases.
• Experience assessing legacy estates and recommending modernization strategies.
• Ability to translate requirements into architectures, ADRs, and delivery plans.
• Strong client-facing communication and ability to align teams on outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Lead an agile delivery team or significant workstream, owning technical outcomes and developer experience.
• Own technical and delivery risk, identifying and mitigating legacy, migration, and AI-assisted risks.
• Remain hands-on in architecture, design, and development while guiding multiple work packages.
• Drive modernization efforts by assessing legacy codebases and inventories and recommending dispositions.
• Develop target-state designs with a clear path from legacy to modernized solutions.
• Lead discovery with clients to define problem statements, outcomes, constraints, and priorities.
• Document requirements, architecture intent, non-functional expectations, ADRs, and acceptance criteria.
• Promote modern developer experience and responsible use of AI-assisted tools.
