Job summary

Twilio is seeking a Sr. Analytics Engineer for R&D to advance the analytics data layer and accelerate analyst velocity.

You will design and maintain scalable data models, pipelines, and governance across Product & Engineering, enabling trusted reporting on R&D metrics. You will collaborate with Data Science & Analytics to codify metrics, implement automated quality checks, and mentor team members while improving data reliability and reporting capabilities.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of professional experience in analytics engineering or data engineering.
• Strong SQL expertise and experience designing data models and pipelines with AWS Glue or similar technologies.
• Ability to codify, document, and reconcile critical business metrics with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Proven track record of owning ambiguous projects from start to finish with minimal guidance.
• Strong technical communication and mentorship skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a formal analytics data layer using AWS Glue, Athena/Presto, and LookML.
• Collaborate with Data Science & Analytics across Product & Engineering to align metric definitions and data lineage.
• Develop and maintain automated data reconciliation and quality checks to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Lead investigations into data anomalies, perform root cause analysis, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and guide team members, promoting best practices around data modeling, testing, documentation, and code review.
