Job summary

Block is seeking a risk-focused engineer to scale its SFS third-party risk management and business continuity program. You will design data pipelines, implement policy-as-code, and build agentic AI workflows to turn governance into continuously operating products.

The role requires deep backend experience, strong data skills, and comfort with ambiguity in an early-stage program. You will collaborate across Security, Procurement, Resilience, and Engineering to harden the platform and improve

Qualifications

• 4+ years building production software in backend, platform, data, or software engineering.
• Ownership of a production system including on-call and SLOs.
• Proficiency with Python, Java, Kotlin, or Go and reading unfamiliar codebases.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompts, tools, and agent-based features.
• Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, authentication, and event-driven patterns.
• Experience pulling, normalizing, and joining data from multiple sources.

Responsibilities

• Own and operationalize a third-party risk management and business continuity program.
• Define the technical approach for cross-team problems in an early-stage program.
• Build and operate pipelines and integrations for risk, control, and asset signals.
• Translate standards into policy-as-code with versioned, tested checks.
• Design agentic AI workflows with LLMs and deterministic decision layers.
• Automate evidence collection and continuous control monitoring.
• Partner with Security, Procurement, Resilience and Engineering teams to streamline processes.
• Contribute to technical design discussions on platform reliability.
