Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC (SSG) seeks a Software Developer in Test (SDET) for a remote, US-based role supporting the Veterans Affairs department. The ideal candidate has strong programming skills and expertise in both manual and automated testing.

Responsibilities include developing and executing test plans, writing test scripts, and coordinating with developers and project managers. National security clearance eligibility (Public Trust) and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience in both manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and SDLC understanding.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases and plans.
• Familiar with test automation frameworks and tools (Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP, LoadRunner).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions).
• Version control familiarity (Git, Subversion).
• Understanding of performance testing (JMeter, Gatling).
• Defect tracking and management tools (JIRA, Bugzilla).
• Database/SQL knowledge for validating data.
• Testing web apps, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices.
• Testing types: functional, regression, integration, system, usability, UAT.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans and test cases to ensure quality across information systems, products, and services.
• Write test scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Coordinate and walk through test cases with stakeholders and teams.
• Conduct tests and ensure operation free of defects, with proper verification.
• Document and communicate test results and support issue resolution.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting; assist in other IT system engineering activities.
