Job summary

Syms Strategic Group, LLC (SSG) is seeking a talented Software Developer in Test (SDET) for a remote role supporting the Veterans Affairs (VA) department. This full-time position requires strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python and hands-on test development across UI, API, and integration layers.

You will design and execute test plans, write scripts, perform verification, and report results while collaborating with Test Managers, Project Managers, and Developers.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience in manual and automated testing.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC understanding.
• Proficiency in writing and executing test cases and plans.
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks and tools.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and version control.
• Understanding of performance testing tools.
• Experience with defect tracking and management tools.
• Knowledge of database and SQL validation.
• Testing of web apps, APIs, and services.
• Understanding of security testing practices.
• Experience with various testing types including UAT.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures.
• Develop test plans, test schedule, and approach.
• Write test cases and scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers and Leads.
• Perform and lead tests to ensure defect-free operation.
• Document and communicate test results.
• Support analysis of test results and issue resolution.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
• Occasionally perform other IT systems engineering activities.
