Job summary

Avum, Inc. is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to build and maintain automated testing solutions supporting Department of Defense programs. The role blends software development with QA to improve coverage and ensure reliable releases.

The ideal candidate will implement Page Object Model, data-driven tests, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, collaborating with developers, analysts, and QA to resolve defects and maintain quality across complex federal applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
• At least three years of automated software testing experience.
• Hands-on experience with automated test frameworks and test automation engineering.
• Experience with Page Object Model or similar automation patterns.
• Experience data-driven tests using external data sources.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency with Git workflows and code reviews.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and QA practices.
• Clear documentation of testing processes, results, and findings.
• U.S. citizenship required and ability to obtain government clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain reusable automated test frameworks and suites for federal applications.
• Create data-driven automated tests using external data sources (JSON, CSV, Excel, DB).
• Apply Page Object Model to separate test logic from UI elements to improve maintainability.
• Develop automated functional, regression, smoke, integration, performance, and load tests.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Investigate failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with developers to fix defects.
• Update tests as features and UIs evolve.
• Analyze workflows to identify reusable testing patterns and coverage improvements.
• Participate in peer code reviews and follow automation standards.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and QA to close coverage gaps.
• Stay updated on testing tools and practices; provide recommendations.
• Maintain test plans, automation docs, results, defects, and metrics for contract/compliance.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and releases.
