Job summary

Pearson is seeking Associate, Scoring Services to remotely score Massachusetts teacher candidates across listed subjects. The role requires a teaching credential and recent public school experience in the subject area, or relevant college/university faculty work preparing candidates. Both active and recently retired practitioners may qualify.

Scorers work remotely, with schedules Monday through Friday and variable hours; training precedes scoring, and a qualifying test is required to participate.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in the subject area you are applying for.
• A current teaching certification in the subject area you are applying for AND two or more years in a public school service role in the subject area.
• OR serve as, or have recently served as, a college/university/program faculty member who prepares candidates for the subject you are applying for
• OR holds a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree and is a graduate student currently teaching courses in the subject area
• Active and recently retired practitioners can be eligible to score.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate responses to test questions by Massachusetts teacher candidates.
• Internalize scoring standards and engage with other scorers in consensus scoring activities.
• Recognize and discuss bias types and discuss strategies to reduce personal biases in scoring.
• Meet quality and productivity requirements for the scoring program, including passing a qualifying test before scoring.
• Rate of $17.50 per hour and working remotely.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or higher

Current teaching certification in the subject area

Public school teaching experience 2+ years

College/university faculty experience preparing candidates

Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree with graduate teaching
