Job summary

Cartwheel is seeking a Mental Health Therapist to work with school staff, students, and families in partner districts. This 1099 independent contractor role offers 8-20 clinical hours per week with a 100% remote setup and rolling start dates in Fall 2026.

You’ll conduct mental health assessments and teletherapy (CBT/DBT/ACT or related approaches) for K-12 students, collaborating closely with counselors and Cartwheel MDs/NPs. Flexible hours target after-school times, supporting nationwide care.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited school of Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Marriage, Family and Child Counseling.
• Active license in Ohio to deliver mental health care (LISW, LPCC, LMFT, or PsyD)
• Experience with CBT, DBT, ACT, solution-focused therapy, and/or motivational interviewing
• Experience delivering care via tele-health
• Strong technological skills and learning new systems (Zoom, G-Suite, EHR, collaboration tools)
• Access to reliable internet (50 Mbps down, 10 Mbps up)
• Excellent organization and collaboration skills
• Ability to work hours during/after a typical school day (3-8 pm ET)
• Note: active license in above state allows care from anywhere in the United States

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health assessments and skills-based teletherapy to students in partner school districts
• Collaborate with school counselors and other providers at start of treatment and during care
• Build relationships with school staff and families to support student mental health and engagement
• Provide psycho-education and support to parents and caregivers
• Collaborate with Cartwheel physicians and NPs on treatment planning
• Support referrals to community mental health and primary care providers
• Participate in case consultations and team discussions
• Help expand Cartwheel’s clinical programming and care team
