Ladders is seeking a skilled Scala Backend Developer to join a leading IT services client on a remote basis. The role focuses on building and maintaining scalable server-side systems, API development, and robust data processing to ensure performance and data integrity.

The ideal candidate has extensive Java/Scala experience, strong design sense, and the ability to mentor juniors while collaborating with stakeholders on technical design and testing.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience, with emphasis on Java.
• 5+ years of hands-on Scala development.
• Proven ability to design and develop RESTful APIs.
• Experience with functional programming and distributed systems.
• Proficiency with Git and Maven for version control and builds.
• Familiarity with SQL databases and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain server-side applications using Scala and Java.
• Develop and maintain robust, scalable APIs.
• Implement efficient data processing and business logic.
• Support distributed systems and ensure reliable software architecture through testing.
• Engage in requirements analysis and system architecture design.
