Job summary

Fearless Solutions is seeking a Ruby on Rails Engineer (Consultant) to design, build, and maintain secure, cloud‑native applications for a federal identity platform. You’ll work across backend and frontend, collaborating with product managers, security experts, and federal stakeholders to deliver reliable, accessible services.

The role emphasizes continuous delivery, IaC with Terraform, and incident response responsibilities in a fully remote environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience developing full‑stack apps with Ruby on Rails.
• Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs.
• Strong OOP, domain modeling, and SOA/microservices concepts.
• Frontend development with JavaScript and React.
• Knowledge of accessibility best practices (Section 508, WCAG).
• Experience with AWS (RDS/Postgres, CloudWatch).
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines.
• Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and GitHub Actions.
• Ability to support production via on‑call rotations.
• Experience collaborating across engineering, product, security, and client teams.
• Bachelor's degree or higher; ability to obtain public trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full‑stack features with Rails and modern JS.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and service‑oriented architectures for identity services.
• Develop accessible, standards‑compliant UIs (508/WCAG).
• Build, deploy, and support cloud‑native apps in AWS.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production apps using AWS CloudWatch and RDS.
• Participate in CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation (GitHub Actions, Terraform).
• Join on‑call and deployment rotations, providing incident response when needed.
• Collaborate with product, security, privacy, and federal stakeholders.
