Job summary

AnewHealth is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer to enhance and maintain our Ruby-based EHR platform, working across front-end and back-end layers. You will tackle defects, implement new features, and optimize SQL queries on health data in an agile environment.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of Ruby experience, full-stack skills, and healthcare domain exposure with PHI handling requirements. This is a remote position within the United States with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software development using Ruby, preferably Rails.
• Full-stack experience across front-end and back-end with Rails and web tech.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience resolving defects in live production and root-cause analysis.
• Healthcare experience with EHR systems and PHI handling awareness.
• Agile/Scrum experience with Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Experience with automated testing (RSpec/Capybara) and Git workflows.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for documentation and code support.

Responsibilities

• Platform development — design, develop, and maintain features on the EHR platform using Ruby on Rails across front-end and back-end.
• Build and modify UI and implement business logic, data access, and services.
• Triage, debug, and resolve defects in the production EHR application with root-cause analysis.
• Design and build new features end-to-end within the existing architecture.
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries on relational data including PHI.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and deliver against sprint timelines with cross-functional teams.
• Deliver secure coding practices and contribute to automated tests and code reviews.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools for documentation and code support with proper review.
