Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation seeks a Remote Operations Center (ROC) Operator in Overland Park, KS. The role operates and monitors distributed energy assets, documents maintenance progress, and reports to the ROC Manager.

You will work 12-hour rotating shifts and interface with clients and internal teams to meet contractual obligations. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in operator roles, familiarity with power plant systems, and knowledge of NERC responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High School Diploma and ability to complete pre-employment onboarding processes.
• 2+ years of operator related work experience preferred.
• Experience in Battery Storage, Solar, Wind, Simple Cycle Thermal, or Combined Cycle Thermal generation preferred.
• Control Room Operator experience preferred.
• Basic industry knowledge and technology trends.
• Knowledge of Power Plant systems and processes.
• Basic understanding of NERC responsibilities.
• Understanding of construction and constructability practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform real-time operations of distributed asset power generation technologies in the ROC.
• Interface with site teams, regulatory agencies, and leadership to identify, diagnose, and resolve operations and maintenance problems.
• Communicate with clients and internal teams to maintain contractual obligations.
• Follow scheduled energy dispatch instructions.
• Follow site-specific project procedures and ROC processes.
• Stand watch in rotating 12-hour shifts.
• Assist monitoring and diagnostics teams with predictive analytics.
• Support remote operations with control applications and document control procedures.
• Mentor and develop less experienced team members.
