Job summary

HighRes is seeking a Robotic Automation Engineer I to join our Automation Engineering team, based in New Jersey or Pennsylvania. You will own deployments end to end, integrating robots, instruments, and CellarioScheduler into a lab platform and validating it with FAT/SAT.

The role requires hands-on experience in laboratory automation or industrial robotics, strong software interpretation (C# or similar), and the ability to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 2+ years of relevant experience; or Associate's degree and 4+ years; or Master's degree and 1+ years
  • Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, or supporting laboratory automation or industrial robotics systems
  • Experience with laboratory automation scheduling software such as CellarioScheduler, Green Button Go, Momentum, Overlord, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in code interpretation with a strong foundation in software principles and object-oriented programming (C# or similar)
  • Strong troubleshooting and configuration skills at hardware and software level with proven issue resolution
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills across diverse audiences
  • Ability to travel up to and sometimes exceeding 40% annually to customer locations domestically and internationally
  • Current driver's license and valid passport
  • Reliable personal transportation for regional travel
  • Comfortable working in laboratory and technical environments
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 pounds and standing for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of commissioning standard systems, integrating robots, instruments, and CellarioScheduler into a lab platform
  • Modify and troubleshoot CellarioScheduler workflows on deployed systems and resolve integration issues
  • Verify hardware, software, and integration deliverables meet acceptance criteria
  • Commission complex systems with guidance from senior engineers for high-count deployments
  • Execute FAT and SAT independently for standard systems and with senior support for complex ones
  • Configure and troubleshoot automation hardware and device-level diagnostics
  • Interpret, integrate, and debug C# and Python code within HighRes automation systems
  • Configure relational databases supporting scheduling apps using SQL
  • Operate diverse robotic platforms (SCARA and articulated arms) across deployments
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for deployed systems and issues
  • Deliver standard and complex system training to customer teams
  • Proactively manage customer relationships and communicate project status clearly
  • Share knowledge of tools, platforms, and processes with teammates
  • Travel to support training and field needs within NJ/PA/NY region and beyond
