Job summary

CorVel Corporation is seeking a registered nurse for a Medical Case Manager role in the NYC area. This is a hybrid position with travel, working with injured workers, families, and providers to coordinate recovery.

You’ll assess progress, discuss treatment plans with physicians, and manage care across local cases. Some CCM/CIRS certification preferred; valid RN license required; travel up to 60% weekly.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in state of operation.
• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• CCM/CIRS or other Case Management certification preferred.
• Experience as an RN Medical Case Manager or clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation preferred.
• A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to assigned locations is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides in-person and telephonic Medical Case Management to individuals, involving patient, physician, health care providers, employer, and referral source.
• Discusses current treatment plan with physician and discusses alternate treatment plans.
• Provides assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient’s progress.
• Evaluates patient’s treatment plan for appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost effectiveness.
• Attends doctors, providers, home and, in some cases, attorney visits and discharge planning conferences to determine care and develop long-term strategy.
• Conducts home visits for initial evaluation and arranges durable medical equipment and nursing services.
• Regular local travel up to ~60% of work time; may require overnight travel.
