Job summary

Canal & River Trust, a UK charity safeguarding 2,000 miles of waterways, seeks a Risk Manager to lead its Enterprise Risk Management program. You will embed ERM, manage risk registers, and advise the Executive across key risks while driving a risk-aware culture.

The role supports flexible remote work with hub attendance as needed. Essential experience includes 5+ years in risk management, leading a function, and strong IT/comms skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in risk management.
• Experience of leading a risk management function.
• Knowledge of risk management standards, internal controls & assurance.
• Excellent IT skills (Excel and Word) and ability to become an expert user of the risk management software.
• Excellent communication skills with senior leaders and complex issues.
• Ability to collaborate across the Trust and engage teams.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied workload to tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to analyse data.
• Experience facilitating workshops and discussions on risks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the embedding and continual development of the ERM framework across the organisation.
• Maintain and report on risk registers at organisational and divisional levels.
• Manage assurance reviews and reporting across key risks.
• Maintain and develop core risk policies and procedures.
• Develop collaborative relationships and lead workshops with teams.
• Act as the key contact for the risk management software and become an expert user.
• Maintain a Training Needs Analysis and deliver a risk communications plan.
