Job summary

Western Power Pool (WPP) is hiring a Resource Adequacy Planning Engineer to join our remote team serving the Western Interconnect. You will build and run SERVM models for LOLE and ELCC studies, analyze data, and translate results for non-technical stakeholders through committees and presentations.

You'll contribute to planning reserve margins, capacity value assessments, and power system reliability work. Strong SERVM experience, programming skills, and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience: Typically 3 to 6 years in resource adequacy, generation or transmission planning.
• Recent hands-on SERVM experience, including LOLE and ELCC studies.
• Strong knowledge of electric power systems and planning.
• Ability to communicate technical results to non-technical audiences.
• Experience with probabilistic modeling and large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and run SERVM models for LOLE/ELCC and reliability studies.
• Develop and validate load, weather, generation, storage, outage, hydro, renewable energy, and transmission data that power resource adequacy modeling.
• Check inputs, configurations, and outputs; document how you resolved issues.
• Analyze large datasets to identify reliability risks and drivers behind study results.
• Write scripts and repeatable workflows for data processing, model runs, and visualization.
• Prepare technical reports, study documentation, and presentations for WRAP participants and leadership.
• Join technical discussions with stakeholders and provide feedback to the process.
• Follow developments in resource adequacy and ISO/RTO practices and improve modeling methods.
