Job summary
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is seeking a Facility Compliance Consultant (Surveyor) to perform regulatory inspections and ensure licensure compliance for adult care homes and respite programs. This home-based role covers the Eastern Region of North Carolina, with frequent travel and occasional overnight stays as inspections dictate.

- Experience applying rules, statutes, and regulatory standards in long-term care or human-services settings.
- Experience in state or federal inspections, compliance audits, or accreditation reviews.
- Experience evaluating service delivery in long-term care, including care planning and coordination.
- Experience providing technical assistance to providers and county DSS staff.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site inspections of licensed adult care homes and respite programs.
- Evaluate facility operations and resident care practices for compliance.
- Document findings clearly and legally defensible.
- Investigate concerns raised by facilities, staff, DSS, or the public.
- Provide technical assistance on licensing requirements and best practices.
- Support county DSS staff with regulatory guidance.
- Prepare written correspondence and survey documentation.
- Coordinate regional travel and schedule inspections.
