Job summary

Merck seeks a Regional Medical Scientific Director (RMSD) to serve as a therapeutic and disease expert, exchanging scientific information with Scientific Leaders and addressing questions about non-product areas of interest. The role supports Rheumatology and Dermatology Immunology programs and aligns to scientific exchange, research, congress support, and insights.

The RMSD will liaise between the scientific community and Merck, sharing therapeutic expertise and onboarding colleagues.

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO or MD required.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant therapeutic area experience beyond the terminal degree.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Commitment to scientific excellence and education.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Knowledge of FDA, HIPAA and relevant regulatory guidelines.
• Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Familiarity with SOPs, GCP and medical affairs policy.

Responsibilities

• Develops professional relationships with national and regional SLs to provide approved scientific information.
• Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains company medical contact with SLs.
• Addresses scientific questions outside RMSD scope and directs to appropriate resources.
• Maintains current knowledge of AOI and therapeutic area for the role.
• Recommends study sites and investigators for clinical programs and supports site initiation.
• Contributes to protocol discussions with GCTO and supports investigator-initiated research.
• Engages in scientific congresses and facilitates data exchange for company and competitors.
• Gathers feedback to inform medical needs and priorities of SLs and patients.
