Job summary

Merck is seeking a Regional Medical Scientific Director to serve as a therapeutic expert and to exchange scientific information with Scientific Leaders across regions. The role supports Rheumatology and Dermatology Immunology programs and helps align clinical trials and investigator-sponsored studies with company goals.

The position requires a PhD/MD/DO and at least 3 years of relevant experience, with strong communication, regulatory knowledge, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in a life science field.
• Minimum of 3 years relevant therapeutic area experience beyond the terminal degree program.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with key external stakeholders.
• Familiarity with FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other regulatory guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Engages in bidirectional scientific exchange with national and regional Scientific Leaders to share approved medical information.
• Supports research discussions with SLs, investigators, and clinical teams to align strategies with AOI.
• Represents the company in scientific congresses and facilitates data exchange.
• Gathers feedback and insights to inform medical strategy and priorities.
• Leads by example as a role model for inclusive leadership and workforce development.
