Job summary

Johnson Service Group, Inc. is seeking a Refueling & Remote Handling Engineer to join a high‑impact team designing remote handling, robotic, and automated tooling systems for module disassembly, inspection, and maintenance.

You will lead design, analysis, and integration of tele‑operated systems, with a BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering (ABET preferred), 5+ years of experience, and eligibility to work under 10 CFR Part 810.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Nuclear Engineering (ABET preferred).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
• 5+ years of full-time engineering experience in mechanical handling equipment, automated systems, or custom tooling design.
• Experience executing engineering design processes and preparing technical specifications, calculations, and fabrication drawings.
• Eligible to work under U.S. DOE regulations (10 CFR Part 810).
• Background in operating nuclear, hazardous, or high-reliability extreme environments is valued.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and review complex mechanical handling systems, automated tooling, robotic equipment, and control system interfaces.
• Collaborate with design, structural, and systems teams to meet functional, physical, and performance requirements.
• Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications, reports, and calculations.
• Plan operations with Manufacturing to optimize work sequences and integration schemes for remote equipment deployment.
• Support fabrication, testing, and vendor integration to ensure high-quality end products.
• Maintain and improve engineering design standards and tooling development processes.
