Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory seeks a Nuclear Remote Systems Engineer to lead the development, operation, and maintenance of remotely operated mechanical systems in the Materials and Fuels Complex. You will collaborate with researchers, technicians, and scientists across the full lifecycle from conceptual design to installation and long-term configuration management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in mechanical, electrical, nuclear, or related engineering field and required years of experience
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain DOE L clearance
• Experience in development testing, electro-mechanical design, fabrication support, mock-up qualification testing, installation support, and acceptance testing

Responsibilities

• Develop and produce remotely operated process equipment for hot-cell and glove-box applications
• Provide engineering solutions for specialized equipment design
• Design and develop new processes and equipment for remote operations
• Modify existing equipment and adapt commercial gear for remote use
• Serve as technical interface between facilities, investigators, and programs
• Support research through process development, operation and data analysis of nuclear fuels and materials
• Define experiment requirements for remote processes and examinations
• Complete design reviews and verification
• Manage configuration and engineering change processes
• Procure, determine quality levels, schedule, and estimate costs for small projects
