Job summary

Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital is seeking a Referral Representative to manage insurance pre-authorizations for office visits and testing. You will gather information from patients, providers, and insurers and act as a patient advocate to secure necessary approvals.

The role requires strong attention to detail, EMR proficiency, and effective communication with clinical staff and payers. Remote-friendly with standard business hours and full-time commitment.

Qualifications

• High attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
• Experience with insurance pre-authorization and referrals preferred.
• Ability to navigate electronic medical records and office workflows.
• Familiarity with EPIC or similar EMR systems is a plus.
• Strong communication with patients, clinicians and payers.

Responsibilities

• Process insurance pre-authorization for primary and specialty visits and testing.
• Gather information from patients, providers, insurers and staff to confirm financial obligations.
• Act as liaison between clinical staff, health plans, providers and patients to obtain authorizations.
• Verify coverage and obtain required authorizations when needed.
• Document referrals and communications in EMR and track authorization progress.
• Coordinate with Patient Service Representatives and care teams for pre-registration and pre-visit prep.
• Utilize EMR and billing platforms per department protocol and ensure data integrity.
