Certus Recruitment is partnering with a rapidly growing Wealth Management / FinTech business building a modern investment platform from the ground up. We are seeking a Position Management System Engineer to own a greenfield real-time position engine and drive architecture decisions from day one.

This contract role offers remote work in the United States, with exposure to data from custodians and streaming pipelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' relevant engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with position management, portfolio accounting, books & records or closely related investment infrastructure.
• Experience within a broker‑dealer, clearing firm, RIA, custodian, wealth management platform or relevant FinTech.
• Strong understanding of cost-basis accounting and cancel/rebook semantics.
• Event-driven / streaming systems experience.
• Strong Python and SQL.
• Understanding of event-time processing, at-least-once delivery, deduplication, checkpointing and state management.
• A builder mentality and desire to own a mission-critical system end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Building and extending a greenfield real-time position engine.
• Converting an append-only ledger into normalized positions.
• Building event-driven pipelines that update holdings as transactions occur.
• Integrating custodian feeds including Schwab, Fidelity and Pershing.
• Developing continuous position reconciliation and break detection.
• Integrating real-time and near-real-time market pricing.
• Building the security master across equities, fixed income, options and other instruments.
• Handling cost basis, tax lots, cancel/rebook activity and transaction corrections.
• Owning the platform in production – monitoring, reliability, capacity and incident response.
