Job summary

The Rector & Visitors of the University of Virginia is seeking a HIM Specialist in Manassas, VA to support health information management workflows, scanning, indexing, and quality analysis for medical records within UVA Health systems.

Responsibilities include record pulling, release of information, chart completion, and conducting monthly audits to ensure regulatory compliance, with the ability to travel between campus facilities as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 2 year/associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of equivalent work experience or RHIT/RHIA in lieu of experience.
• RHIA or RHIT preferred.
• Must possess excellent analytical and customer service skills. HIPAA knowledge required. Experience with EPIC EHR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support HIM workflows across the department, including phone coverage, record pulling/ordering, and off-site vendor interactions.
• Conduct medical record analysis for chart deficiencies and facilitate chart completion by providers.
• Perform release of information tasks and respond to subpoenas, travel as needed.
