Job summary

Virginia Connections Academy is seeking a Reading Specialist/Interventionist to work from home in Virginia. You will manage MTSS-based interventions for students with gaps identified by assessments and state tests, providing both synchronous and asynchronous sessions to meet individual needs.

You will partner with reading and ELA staff to ensure MTSS processes align with improving student achievement and monitor progress using screens and scores. Occasional travel for events may be required.

Qualifications

• Certified to teach in Virginia for MS/HS or has completed Reading Specialist microcredential.
• Strong technology skills with Google Suite and Zoom.
• Ability to analyze and implement intervention plans and track progress.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Strong time management and organizational abilities.
• Customer-focused, flexible, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for marketing and state testing events.

Responsibilities

• Administer and report state standardized testing (e.g., SOL, CIP Benchmarks, WIDA).
• Maintain attendance logs, MTSS meeting minutes, PLP progress notes, and grade book.
• Maintain homeroom duties and homeroom class responsibilities.
• Deliver synchronous lessons weekly and monitor asynchronous interventions.
• Collaborate with Reading and ELA teachers to plan flexible groupings.
• Write and monitor 504 accommodations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
