Unio Health Partners is seeking a Remote Patient Account Specialist to manage patient accounts, billing, and insurance claims across authorized states. You will collaborate with staff and payors to ensure accurate billing and timely payments, while providing excellent customer service to patients.

The role requires 2+ years in healthcare payment posting/AR, strong software proficiency, and knowledge of relevant laws.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of healthcare payment posting/AR experience.
• Proficiency in various software and credentialing databases.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws applicable to duties.
• Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Oversee patient billing processes, verify insurance details, and process claims.
• Submit insurance claims to payors as needed.
• Answer patient billing inquiries with clear explanations of charges and benefits.
• Reconcile patient accounts by applying payments and adjustments accurately.
• Proactively contact patients about procedures and collect payments.
• Negotiate payment plans and apply charity care policies as applicable.
• Investigate delinquencies and establish payment schedules with patients.
• Confirm insurance benefits and eligibility through intake processes.
• Prepare prior authorizations for medical services as needed.
• Resolve discrepancies between payments received and amounts billed.
• Research and analyze accounts and payments; correct improper charges.
• Respond timely to inquiries from payers, patients, and other parties.
