Job summary

American Heart Association internship program offers hands-on experience with a focus on nutrition security, health education, and culturally competent resources for cardiovascular health in Oklahoma. The role is remote with occasional travel to Tulsa and Oklahoma City for events, and requires a minimum of 20 hours per week during business hours.

Qualifications

• Senior or graduate student pursuing a degree in public health or related field.
• Strong oral and written communication, and comfort presenting to groups.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint; Canva helpful.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing and implementing community health initiatives.
• Support work around hypertension control, nutrition insecurity, and tobacco/vaping.
• Engage rural healthcare centers and community-based organizations.
• Assist with internal program evaluations and communications.
• Help communicate impact of local work and identify stories.
• Develop resources like playbooks meeting community health needs.
• Attend trainings, health fairs, and community events as requested.
