Job summary

WSP is seeking an experienced Transmission Planning Engineer (PSCAD Specialist) to join the Electrical Studies, SCADA, and Protection team, based in Denver, CO. Remote work and additional US office locations are considered.

The role focuses on EMT studies, PSCAD model development, and high-quality technical documentation. You will collaborate with engineers and clients to deliver reliable transmission planning solutions, manage multiple projects, and mentor junior engineers while maintaining

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Engineer in Training Certification.
7–10 years of transmission planning experience with EMT studies.
PSCAD experience including complex controls interactions and FACTS modeling.
Experience developing and tuning PSCAD models.
Strong ability to work in a dynamic team supporting customer needs.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills with engineers and non-engineers.
US residency required.

Responsibilities

Perform EMT work for network studies, generation and load interconnection tasks, and microgrid modeling.
Develop generation, load, and asset models and work with manufacturer models when applicable.
Tune control parameters in PSCAD with both generic and manufacturer models.
Develop controls for power plants, grid-following/ forming inverters, and FACTS equipment.
Deliver projects on scope, schedule, and budget; prepare reports and findings.
Mentor junior engineers and support transmission planning teams.
