Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing complex VA initiatives, including VistA transition and EHR modernization. This role supports a federal civilian agency and requires strong problem-solving, rapid learning, and collaboration across cross-functional teams, with periodic weekend support during deployments.

The position is fully remote within the United States, with standard business hours ET.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline is required.
• 15+ years of work experience; 10 years may substitute for the degree.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams in a remote environment.
• Experience in operating in an agile environment is desirable, but not required.
• Experience within a large Enterprise Health IT environment, specifically with VA.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in day-to-day program execution and stakeholder commitments.
• Coordinate activities across SMEs, Data Analysts, Writers, project teams, and government stakeholders.
• Translate requirements into actionable plans, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
• Monitor scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, issues, and resources across multiple activities.
• Identify emerging requirements and develop practical solutions.
• Ensure activities and risks are tracked and communicated to leadership.
• Support development of executive briefs, status reports, and project plans.
• Facilitate cross-functional reporting, drive actions to closure, and maintain accountability.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and apply innovative approaches.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and promote collaboration and continuous improvement.
