Job summary

Governors Action Alliance (GovAct) seeks a savvy Program Associate to support the Governors Safeguarding Democracy (GSD) initiative. You will handle administrative, operational, and project tasks, reporting to the Managing Director.

This role offers a remote option with potential hybrid work in Washington, DC, or the San Francisco Bay Area, and requires strong organizational judgment and detail orientation.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in nonprofits, government, law, policy, communications, public relations, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Government, Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent judgment and discretion with handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level administrative support to GSD staff, including calendars and meetings.
• Manage travel and accommodations for senior staff; process reimbursements.
• Track deadlines, action items, and follow-ups to ensure timely responses.
• Draft memoranda, summaries, and background materials for internal/external audiences.
