Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum unit offers a full-time coding role focusing on CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS across E/M services. Remote work from anywhere in the U.S. with opportunities to collaborate with providers to ensure accurate coding.

The position requires AHIMA/AAPC credentials, 3+ years of outpatient ProFee coding, and strong EMR/Excel skills. You will be expected to uphold coding quality, productivity, and regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (see credentials) maintained annually.
• 3+ years of experience with ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS.
• Proficiency with Windows PC environment and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to float to multiple clients as directed.

Responsibilities

• Identify CPT/ICD-10/Modifiers assignments for E/M services across multiple settings.
• Apply coding knowledge to analyze and correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity Edits.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Maintain up-to-date coding knowledge from QM Manager and others.
• Adhere to ethical coding standards per AAPC/AHIMA and client guidelines.
