Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is hiring a professional medical coder to identify CPT/ICD-10 codes and modifiers for various E/M services across multiple facilities. The role requires certified coders with AHIMA/AAPC credentials and 3+ years of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS experience. The position supports telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC) maintained annually.
• 3+ years of experience with ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS.
• Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Excel; comfortable with EMR systems.
• Ability to float to multiple clients as directed.

Responsibilities

• Identify correct CPT, ICD-10 codes and modifiers for various E/M services across multiple departments.
• Expert knowledge in ProFee coding specialties including E/M, Critical Care and Trauma.
• Analyze and correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity Edits.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart reviews as needed.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per QM/Director guidelines.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when needed.
• Stay updated on coding knowledge via internal materials and meetings.
• Participate in coding department meetings and training events.
• Review and track charts coded, held, or missing.
• Additional responsibilities as identified by manager.
