Qualifications

• Two to three years’ experience as a production editor.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Strong knowledge of grammar and punctuation, Chicago Manual of Style, and House style.
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to meet deadlines while juggling multiple projects.
• Good interpersonal skills and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Convert titles from hardcover to trade paperback and manage the process.
• Copyedit new and revised materials; hire freelancers if needed.
• Mark typeset files, oversee interior layout changes, and update cover elements.
• Collate changes and route materials for multi-department review.
• Electronic styling for original titles and jacket/cover copy proofreading.
• Collaborate with Production, Design, and Editorial teams to align schedules.
• Maintain progress in tracking systems and follow file naming conventions.
• Provide support to other production editors during absences or vacations.
