Job summary

Qualifications

Two to three years' experience as a production editor, preferably in adult trade fiction/nonfiction.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, anticipating problems and prioritizing tasks.
Strong grammar and punctuation skills with command of Chicago Manual of Style.

Responsibilities

Handle production editorial work to convert fiction and nonfiction titles from hardcover to trade paperback.
Copyedit new and revised materials or hire freelancers and review their work.
Mark typeset pages for reflow and oversee cover updates and layout revisions.
Coordinate multi-department reviews and electronic styling of original titles if applicable.
Copyedit jacket/cover copy and marketing material, proofreading jackets/covers and captions.
Collaborate with Production, Design, and Editorial teams and track progress in systems.
Adhere to schedules and communicate risks to Managing Editorial.
