• Ability to meet deadlines while juggling multiple projects.
• Experience hiring and coordinating freelancers is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Handle production editorial work for original fiction and nonfiction titles from manuscript to bound book, including paperback conversions.
• Electronically style manuscripts for design and composition.
• Hire and manage freelance copyeditors, proofreaders, and indexers, and review their work through all passes.
• Prepare copyedited manuscripts for design and typesetting; collate changes from authors and freelancers.
• Copyedit jacket/cover copy and marketing material; proofread jackets/covers and insert captions.
• Collaborate with Production, Design, and Editorial teams on scheduling and revisions while complying with Legal directives.
• Update progress of projects in digital tracking systems with proper file naming and practices.
• Provide task- and project-specific support for other production editors during vacations or gaps.
