Job summary

Corning Inc. seeks a mechanical design engineer to conceptualize and deliver advanced mechanical solutions for new products. You will create plastic injection molded and sheet metal components, generating 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for concept reviews, analyses, and patents.

The role requires 2–5 years of related experience, a BS in Engineering (Mechanical preferred), and the ability to collaborate across global teams. Travel up to 10% is expected, with full-time on-site work in Texas.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering; Mechanical preferred.
• 2–5 years of industry experience in product/design/NPI.
• Experience with injection molded or sheet metal parts is desirable.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize mechanical design solutions for new product development.
• Create mechanical designs for plastic injection molded and sheet metal components.
• Provide 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for concepts, analysis, patents, and reporting.
• Lead projects from a technical perspective and coordinate with CAD/design/test labs.
• Collaborate with global teams to translate concepts into manufacturable designs.
• Support manufacturing with remote collaboration to release products at full scale.
• Document findings for technical reports and patent applications.
