Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking a seasoned credit underwriting professional in Illinois to support consumer and commercial lending decisions. You will analyze credit requests, structure loans, and monitor portfolios while collaborating with bankers and risk teams to ensure strong risk management and regulatory compliance.

The role requires 4–6 years of experience, a related degree, and formal credit qualifications.

Qualifications

Typically 4–6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree.
Requires Credit Qualification per established processes.
Commercial loan and underwriting experience in a financial services environment.
In-depth knowledge of personal and commercial credit products and monitoring/operational processes.
Understanding of loan and security documentation, including registration and renewal.
Strong verbal and written communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

Assist in preparing new business proposals or presentations to clients/prospects.
Assist in preparing for client meetings and account opening documentation.
Analyze risk, financial and profitability ratings; provide insights and recommendations.
Monitor lending portfolios and ensure timely, accurate processing and compliance.
Produce regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards; support policy changes.
