Job summary

Muon Space is seeking a Principal Mission Architect and mission formulation lead to guide new mission architectures, with a focus on international opportunities. You will manage a team of engineers, perform mission-level analyses, develop requirements, and design practical, cost-effective space missions.

This role can be performed remotely from an approved location with in-person travel to our Mountain View facility and international travel up to 30% to support solution development and business

Qualifications

• B.S. or higher in related engineering field
• 12+ years of space mission experience
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Spacecraft design experience
• Space mission design experience
• Willingness to travel internationally

Responsibilities

• Develop a complete mission concept based on customer needs
• Perform mission-level analysis and own top-level mission budgets
• Requirements definition and design for the mission and payloads
• Leverage software tools and/or writing code to explore engineering trade studies
• Understand key metrics and spacecraft and payload design trades with instrument team
• Perform spacecraft performance and constellation configuration evaluation
• Collaborate with other discipline engineers and scientists to ensure the product meets objectives
• Regular international travel (30%) to support solution development and opportunities
