Job summary

Yourgi, Inc. in Remote (US only) is seeking a Principal Engineer to set the technical direction for cloud services, service design, and data across API, web, and mobile.

You will own the architecture for our software platform and mentor engineers while delivering simplicity from complexity, guiding us toward scalable, cost-aware solutions. You will prototype, review, code, and lead with a focus on AI-assisted workflows, observability, and collaboration with product and design to drive the next

Qualifications

• 12+ years building and running production software, incl. 4+ years as staff/principal/architect.
• Deep experience with AWS cloud services, serverless and event-driven systems.
• Design APIs, services, and data models used by many teams and client versions.
• Strong relational DB design and performance tuning (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
• Hands-on with modern testing, CI/CD, and observability; improved team stability.
• Practical AI coding tools on real codebases with sound judgment.
• Clear writing and ability to persuade with design docs.
• Experience with Marketplace, booking, scheduling, or payments (Stripe).
• Data architecture for analytics: pipelines, data lake/warehouse (Snowflake).
• Mobile apps must support older versions in the field.
• Technical leadership through an org or platform transformation.

Responsibilities

• Own the target cloud services architecture on AWS and roadmap, including Lambda estate simplification.
• Lead service design: boundaries, API patterns, and backward-compatible contracts.
• Own database design and optimization; move toward governed data architecture.
• Draft architecture docs and chair reviews crossing teams or payments/customer data.
• Raise engineering bar for code review, testing, observability, and latency budgets.
• Partner with CI/CD, unattended deploys, rollbacks, and production monitoring.
• Shape spec-driven, AI-assisted delivery workflow from PRD to deploy.
• Mentor senior engineers, help hire, and assess build-vs-buy with cloud/AI costs.
