Job summary

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Principal Software Engineer with ArduPilot experience to join a multi-site team supporting UAS and defense programs. The role requires deep embedded software expertise across C/C++, Java, Python, and Bash, with strong Linux/Windows development skills.

The successful candidate will work on autonomous flight systems using ArduPilot/PX4 flight controllers, collaborate with hardware teams, and travel up to 25% to support customers and deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, CS, or related field.
• 8+ years of software development for embedded systems.
• Experience with ArduPilot and/or PX4 flight controllers.
• Experience with UAS/UAV operations and troubleshooting.
• Proficient with Git and collaborative software development.
• Understanding of robotics, autonomous systems, and embedded design.
• Proficient in Linux and Windows development environments.
• Ability to obtain Secret DoD security clearance.
• 25% travel.
