Job summary

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a senior Embedded Software Engineer to join a multi-site team developing safety-critical flight software for autonomous systems. The role involves designing, integrating, and testing software across C/C++, Java, Python, and Bash for embedded platforms.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years of experience with sUAS, ArduPilot or PX4, Git, and Linux/Windows in a DoD environment. Travel ~25% and active Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, CS, or related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of software development experience in C/C++, Java, Python, and Bash for embedded systems.
• Hands-on with sUAS and RC aircraft operations; integration and troubleshooting.
• Experience with autonomous flight systems using ArduPilot and/or PX4.
• Proficient with Git for source control and collaboration.
• Familiar with MAVLink protocol and ground control integration.
• Knowledge of robotics, autonomous systems, and embedded design.
• Proficient with Linux and Windows development environments.
• Active Secret DoD security clearance.
• Willingness to travel ~25%.
