Job summary

MAXIMUS is seeking a Principal DevOps Architect to provide technical leadership across enterprise DevOps, cloud, containerization, software delivery, and automation. The role sets architecture and engineering best practices and partners with development, cloud, security, and operations to deliver scalable solutions supporting enterprise and government programs.

This is a fully remote position with 15% travel.

Qualifications

• 15+ years enterprise IT experience with solution architecture, cloud platforms, software development, integration, delivery leadership, and government program experience preferred.
• Strong full-stack development skills with .NET 4 and .NET 8+, and front-end tech (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Vue.js).
• Deep knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and secure software solutions (OIDC, SAML 2.0, JWT).
• Experience with AWS services and SQL Server/Data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement DevOps and containerization best practices, release pipelines, and automation across the enterprise.
• Lead as a technical authority; align business needs with industry best practices.
• Mentor DevOps Engineering team to promote excellence and consistency.
• Define, develop, and implement the configuration management system supporting the SDLC.
• Manage source code in version control, branches, merges, and packaging; mentor juniors.
• Collaborate with Cloud Services for installations/upgrades/deployments and enable team self-sufficiency.
• Develop automation scripts for build, deployment, and versioning.
• Troubleshoot complex issues in VCS and CI systems.
• Work with developers, testers, and IT ops to automate builds and deployments, configure CI environments.
• Oversee large, technically complex projects and ensure service delivery excellence.
• 15+ years enterprise IT experience preferred.
