Job summary

MAXIMUS seeks a Principal DevOps Architect to provide technical leadership across enterprise DevOps, cloud architecture, containerization, software delivery, and automation. This role will establish architecture and engineering best practices, guide complex technology initiatives, and partner with development, cloud, security, and operational teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions supporting enterprise and government programs.

This is a fully remote position with 15% travel.

Qualifications

• 15+ years enterprise IT experience with solution architecture, cloud platforms, software development, integration, delivery leadership, and government program experience preferred.
• Full-stack development experience with .NET 4 and .NET 8+, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Vue.js.
• Strong experience with SQL Server, data modeling, and complex queries with performance tuning.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture and design patterns.
• Experience with secure software solutions design and authentication technologies (OIDC, SAML 2.0, JWT).
• Familiarity with AWS services and related cloud tooling.
• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement DevOps and Containerization best practices, release pipelines, and automation enterprise-wide.
• Lead in assessing business needs and mapping to industry best practices to support goals.
• Capitalize on DevOps engineering training to promote team excellence and competency.
• Define, develop, and implement configuration management supporting the SDLC.
• Manage source code, branching, merging, and mentoring junior engineers.
• Collaborate with Cloud Services to install, upgrade, and deploy containers.
• Develop automation scripts for build, deployment, and versioning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in VCS and CI systems.
• Work with developers, testers, and IT to automate builds, deployments, and CI environments.
• Oversee large, technically complex projects and ensure service delivery excellence.
