Job summary

Bixal is seeking a Principal Data Lead to steer data strategy, governance, and quality for a large federal data platform. You will own the data strategy, oversee the data supply chain, and drive multi-phase metadata maturity across the organization.

You’ll bridge platform teams and upstream data owners, establishing standards and ensuring data quality to enable self-service analytics and AI. This foundational work supports scalable, trusted data use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field and extensive experience in data governance and enterprise data platforms.
• Proven ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholder teams and data owners.
• Experience owning or leading data strategy for large multi-source platforms.
• Experience with metadata governance and cataloging programs.

Responsibilities

• Own execution of the data strategy for a large-scale enterprise data platform, aligning day-to-day delivery with strategic goals.
• Serve as the primary coordination point across upstream source-system teams and data owners, managing handoffs and metadata standards.
• Lead the data supply chain—onboarding, ingestion, and transformation—and drive a multi-phase metadata maturity program.
• Govern promotion of data through tiered catalog architecture and apply criteria consistently across teams.
• Set and maintain data quality standards, including completeness, conformance, freshness, and defect tracking.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and AI teams to support expanding self-service analytics and AI use cases.
• Establish and track data quality and metadata metrics to prioritize remediation work.
• Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
