Job summary

Alignment Health is seeking a Principal, Data Engineer to set platform engineering standards and drive data quality, pipeline performance, and scalability across the Medicare Advantage data ecosystem. You will partner with architects, AI/ML engineers, and stakeholders to translate priorities into durable, audit-ready solutions spanning clinical, operational, and financial domains.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive data engineering experience with scale platforms.
• 5+ years in healthcare, health insurance, or Medicare Advantage environments.
• Proven track record building and governing enterprise data platforms with Kafka, Databricks.
• Designing complex ETL/ELT pipelines in cloud environments (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Experience setting engineering standards and architectural patterns.
• Technical lead in data platform modernization or cloud migration initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Set Platform Engineering Standards: define data engineering patterns and guardrails.
• Design and Govern the Data Platform for scalable processing of claims, encounters, risk data.
• Integrate AI/ML into Production Engineering with automation and quality tooling.
• Build and optimize high-performance cloud-based data pipelines in real-time and batch.
• Mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and raise team capability.
• Evaluate new data technologies and contribute to the data platform roadmap.
• Deliver compliant healthcare data solutions aligned to CMS reporting standards.
